In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, Uvalde Memorial Hospital is hosting a Women’s Health Expo to take place on Tuesday, October 9th at the Ssgt. Willie de Leon Civic Center from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Our focus is not only on breast cancer awareness but overall women’s health and encouraging women to take an active approach to their healthcare. Last year this event was the first of its kind in our area and attendance exceeded 500. The Expo is open to the public and will attract women of all ages and backgrounds.
5:00 PM: Registration, booths open for shopping
6:00 PM: Physician Expert Panel; booths remain open
- Five doctors, specializing in a variety of areas of women’s health take the stage to candidly answer attendees’ questions.
6:30 PM: Keynote Speaker- Rebekah Gregory; Proudly Sponsored by First State Bank of Uvalde; booths remain open
- Rebekah Gregory is a wife and mother whose life was forever changed due to the bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. This act of terrorism may have claimed her leg, but it could not claim her spirit. Since then, Rebekah has used her platform in a huge way by traveling all over the country speaking out against evil, and encouraging people to turn their obstacles into opportunities. In 2017, Rebekah had her first book "Taking My Life Back" published. Shortly after, she launched Rebekah's Angels Foundation, which she and her husband created to aid in the treatment of childhood PTSD. Rebekah and her college sweetheart-turned-husband Chris, live in Houston TX with their two beautiful children, Ryleigh and Noah, their dog Bear, and their talking parrot, Captain Jack Sparrow.
7:30-8:00pm: Meet & Greet and Pictures with Rebekah Gregory; booths remain open
A variety of vendors will be present ranging from health, nutrition and fitness, to fashion, beauty and jewelry.
To participate as a vendor, please complete the vendor form and return it with payment no later than September 17, 2018.
Each category (health, nutrition, fitness, beauty, fashion, jewelry) will showcase a limited number of vendors to ensure the success of the booths present so you are encouraged to submit your entry form early to reserve your spot.
We are so excited about our cute shirts for the Women's Health Expo. To order your own before the big event, download the form and mail to us or drop off in the Human Resources Department. Orders and payment due by September 21.
