Uvalde area residents have access to the finest available diagnostic and therapeutic health care services in this region. Uvalde Memorial Hospital provides excellent health care to a population of over 50,000. The service area includes Uvalde, Real, Zavala, Edwards and Kinney counties. The entire staff, composed of over 430 employees, is dedicated to seeing that we provide the highest quality services to the area.

The facility was founded in 1949 and became a hospital authority on January 26, 1968. The not-for-profit facility offers 66 beds with eight intensive care units, 11 maternity rooms with fetal monitoring equipment, surgical suites, and intermediate intensive care unit, a 24-hour emergency department,state-of-the-art imaging facilities which include, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, CT and MRI scanning, bone densitometry and PACS (picture archiving communication system), sleep center, heart catheterization, a pharmacy, hospice care, hyperbaric and wound care center, chemotherapy treatment center, a complete Rehabilitation department and a social services program.

Currently, UMH has 16 physicians on its active medical staff consisting of a gynecologist, family practitioners, internists, a radiologist and surgeons.  Each month UMH averages 159 surgeries, 37 obstetrical deliveries and 167 inpatient admissions.
