UMH Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship Deadline Rapidly Approaching

Application deadlines June 30th for Fall semester scholarships or October 30th for Spring semester scholarships.

The Uvalde Memorial Hospital (UMH) Auxiliary is currently accepting nursing scholarship applications for the fall semester. Students must be enrolled in Southwest Texas Junior College’s Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) programs to be eligible to receive the scholarship.  The deadline for application is June 30.  Applicants must be current residents living in Uvalde, Real, or Zavala County.

Additionally, applicants must include a current application for employment at UMH, if not already employed with the hospital. The scholarship recipient is required to work at UMH for one year for every semester of assistance before graduation.

To apply, applicants can download the application online. A paper copy is also available at UMH’s Administration Office.

A complete application, two letters of recommendation: one from a business person and one from another interested person outside his or her immediate family; proof of high school diploma or record of GED scores; an essay of at least 100 words expressing why he or she would like the scholarship and your plans for the future as a nurse at Uvalde Memorial Hospital; and a recent photograph of himself or herself are required.

The UMH Auxiliary traditionally awards one $2,000 nursing scholarship per semester.  For more information, please call Rebecca Taylor at (830) 278-6251 ext. 1474.
