Uvalde Hospice Honors Patients During Its Annual Memorial Service
79 honorees' lives were celebrated during the memorial
On Sunday, November 6, 2011, Uvalde Hospice celebrated its annual Hospice memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. 79 honorees’ lives were celebrated during the memorial.
Reverend Scott Bradford welcomed guests to the service. Martha Hagan performed the prelude and postlude.
Uvalde Hospice Administrator Sharon Hutchinson, Volunteer Coordinator Rebecca Taylor and Assistant Administrator Joe Navarro gave the readings and read the responsive readings. Clinical Director Fredlyn Wideman read a special reading for the families. Cindy Mata, LVN, and Olivia Trevino, LVN, read the names of the honorees and several other members of the Hospice staff gave gifts to family members in attendance. Medical Director for Uvalde Hospice Dr. John Shudde offered words of encouragement to the families and friends of the honorees.
Uvalde Hospice Chaplain Rev.Nathan LaFrenz and his wife Anna performed several classical music pieces. Marilyn Unruh, along with her friends and family, also provided musical selections chosen especially for the memorial service.
Reverend Bradford was also on-hand to offer the welcome prayer and benediction, as well as spiritual support.
In the reception hall, family and friends adorned tables with photographs, mementos, and crafts as a special tribute to their loved ones. Refreshments were also served.
The staff of UMH Hospice would like to thank Rev. Bradford and the volunteers of First United Methodist Church for hosting this year's memorial service.
