Uvalde Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Accepting Nursing Scholarship Applications
Deadline is June 30
The Uvalde Memorial Hospital (UMH) Auxiliary is currently accepting nursing scholarship applications for the fall semester. Students must be enrolled in Southwest Texas Junior College’s Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) programs to be eligible to receive the scholarship.
To apply, download the UMH Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship application. A paper copy is also available at UMH’s Administration Office.
In addition to the application, there following items are required application materials: two letters of recommendation, one from a business person and one from another interested person outside his or her immediate family; proof of high school diploma or record of GED scores; and an essay of at least 100 words expressing why he or she would like the scholarship and the applicant’s plans for the future as a nurse at Uvalde Memorial Hospital; and a recent photograph of himself or herself.
Additionally, applicants must include a current application for employment at UMH, if not already employed with the hospital. The scholarship recipient is required to work at UMH for one year for every semester of assistance before graduation.
The UMH Auxiliary traditionally awards one nursing scholarship per semester. The completed application materials are due by June 30. Any application materials received after June 30 will not be accepted. Applicants must be current residents living in Uvalde, Real, or Zavala County.
