Red Cross Babysitting Classes
The American Red Cross and Uvalde Memorial Hospital offer a babysitter-training course for young people 11-15 years old who wish to become responsible babysitters. The classes are taught by instructors certified by the American Red Cross. During the course, the students are shown the fundamentals of babysitting, including basic infant/child care, first aid, rescue breathing, how to maintain a safe environment, and how to care for the children and themselves in certain situations.
The class is held from 9:00am-4:30pm and the fee is $25.00 for each attendee. Instructors for the class are UMH Women and Newborns’ Center employees, Pauline Garcia, RNC, and Cathy Alvarez, RNC. The next class will be scheduled once the minimum of attendees is met.
