Lactation Consultants

The Women & Newborn's Center here at Uvalde Memorial Hospital has two qualified lactation consultants who are certifed by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.  They are prepared to help each mom meet her breastfeeding goals while providing technical and emotional support.  Their assistance does not end when you leave our hospital.  They are available throughout your whole breastfeeding experience.


The free services provided by the lactation consultants include but are not limited to:

• One-on-one consultations by appointment 
  
• Bedside consultation and advice
  
• Hands on assistance with first feedings after birth
• Continued assistance with moms maintaining lactation
• Breastfeeding basics education through our Childbirth Class
• Assistance with breast pump rentals and purchases
