Our Facility
We at Uvalde Memorial Hospital are dedicated to making your birthing experience special for you and your baby. Our Women & Newborn's Center is a well established in-hospital birthing center. It is strategically located within proximity of anesthesia and the operating room if needed for decisions ensuring the medical safety of your labor and delivery. When you decide that you would like to deliver at Uvalde Memorial Hospital, your first step is choosing an obstetric physician from those on our staff. Our highly trained nurses and nurse anesthetists will work with your physician to ensure that you get the care you need.
Labor & Delivery Room
Nursery
Because bonding is so important, right after birth and during your stay, our department uses the Mother/Baby model of care. This means that your baby does not have to leave your room. Baby can stay during transition time in your room, even for bath time! When you transfer to post partum the baby goes with you and stays in your room through discharge. If you would like to rest during the night or day, we will be glad to take the baby so that you can get some much needed rest.
If an unexpected circumstance occurs with your newborn, such as being born premature or ill, our nursery is equipped with neonatal equipment to treat your newborn's special needs immediately.

Postpartum
Your private postpartum room is where you will go once you have delivered your baby. During your postpartum period, our nursing staff will care for you and your newborn. We encourage you and your family to participate in this care to facilitate the bonding as a family. Your care will be individualized taking into consideration any cultural, spiritual, emotional and physical needs you and your family may have.
